Triund trek is just 18km from Dharamshala, located in Dhauladhar mountain ranges is an attractive trekking destination. Triund trek attracts lots of tourist every year from India and abroad. Triund has well defined forest trails on one side and breathtaking view of Kangra valley on the other. Trekking here is a bit challenging experience. The first 5km is easy and become tricky after that. The last 1km has lots of curves to cross. This makes the trekking experience very exhausting.

Scenic beauty of Triund makes it an ideal place to pitch tents. Camping and trekking experience can be made wonderful with the famous eating joints on the route. There are cafeterias & resting junction on the way. The small and easy trails can be covered from mcLeodganj or Dharamkot. On the route from Dharamkot there is a Galu Devi Temple and it takes 3.30 min. approx from this temple to reach Triund.

The Trek Route:-

Bhagsu and Dharamkot are two villages situated about 2 km above thru ridge from mcLeodganj. The trail starts from Dharamkot and goes through the thick crown of pine forests. There is a small shop just below the Galu temple on the route. From here, one trail goes south-west into the forest to the village of Naddi and another forest trail goes North-West, to the stream that descends from Lake.

The starting point of Triund trek is Galu, however there are many options to Galu. Either you can hire a taxi from Mcleod Ganj till Galu or you can start the trek from Mcleod Ganj. Trek can also be started from Bhagsu Nag. From Galu there is an unambiguous byway which goes through a beautiful forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron.

Best Time for Trek:-

Triund is a comfortable for most part of the year except for when the byway to triund is cut off by heavy snowfall in the month of January and February. The best time for trekking is from Aprail to November. The entire stretch is perfect for bird watchers, as the forest here are literally swarmed with various kind of birds. There are plenty of places to camp and the view of Dhauladhar ranges from Triund is marvelous.

How to Reach Triund:-
Himachal Transport has a regular bus service from Delhi and other towns to Dharmshala. From Dharamshala, bus services is available for Mcleaodganj.
